My Miles, Their Smiles: Walking for Children’s Comfort, Hope & Courage

This campaign is more than just miles to me—it is a journey of love, memory, and purpose. I am a champion, a mother, and an advocate for children battling cancer. My “why” is deeply personal. I walked this journey with my son, my beautiful angel, who bravely battled Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. I witnessed his strength, his courage, and the quiet bravery children carry even in their hardest moments. I also witnessed the weight families carry—the pain, the fear, the long hospital days, and the deep need for comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. When my son got his wings, his journey transformed mine forever. Now every step I take is in honor of him and in honor of every child and family walking this difficult road. This is why Miles for Millions matters so much to me.I know what it means for a child to need comfort.I know what it means for a caregiver to need hope.I know how much palliative care can bring peace, dignity, love, and support in the moments that matter most.

Testing out the new hip, and raising money for children’s palliative care!

I have a shiney hip to test out…following surgery at the end of the year, I’ve been given the go ahead to get back out and use it!So, what better way than to rope you in to raising some (very much needed!) funds for children’s palliative care! In the UK,children’s palliative care is often thought of as a “Cinderella Service”, with huge variations in service provision, and importantly, funding, across the country.Families often fall between the gap, depending on where they live. This means that families that really need the support, can’t always access it. And, that’s just the UK picture…in many places worldwide, these services are even less.I am privileged to work with some amazing families everyday and would like to do a bit to raise funds and awareness. I would be really grateful if you could find a penny or two to donate (or even the cost of your coffee!), as I try to help a teeny bit! Thank you!!! Em x

walk for a cause

I started my career as RN in 1991 working in 2 tertiary hospitals in the Philippines raised from the ranks. But I feel professional fulfillment when I opted another field in 2017 and joined sn American company providing Palliative and Hospice Care. Although the company stop the operation in the Philippines in 2019. I had a chance to continue my advocacy through THE RUTH FOUNDATION. I started my career in TRF as nurse supervisor until I was assigned as External Affairs Associate in 2024. Miles for Millions will be a part of my advocacy.
